Most media filters have their multi port valve attached at the neck with a set of clamps, threaded collar or bolted collar. They can sometimes leak from this join. A leak here can sometimes be caused by excessive pressure due to the filter needing a backwash. It can also be caused by compacted media or a worn out O’ring.

Usually a blockage in the brass spiral or an oil leak in the face, likely need to be replaced

It’s possible, there can also be many other factors contributing to cloudy water though. If you have good water chemistry, good pump flow and still have cloudy water, there is a good chance your media is losing its efficiency
-
“Compacted” pool filter media can happen when granular media clumps together and hardens over time due to accumulated scale, organic matter, or fine debris, rendering the filter ineffective. Media can also become smoothed out and lose it’s ability to catch dirt efficiently. The Deep End can do a media change on your filter providing the tank is in good shape and not too deteriorated, if that is the case we can install a new replacement media filter.

There can be a few things that can cause this problem, concrete, sand or grit caught in the valve head creating friction. A rusted or corroded Top Half Assembly spring, a displaced spider gasket. Whatever the issue is we can diagnose and offer repair solutions on site.

Some pools have an overflow plug to waste out excess. Some pools may have been plumbed in a way that allows for you to drain out excess rain water via a waste valve. Many pools however have no obvious way for you to lower the water level. We can do a site review for you and explore the options available at your property so you can manage this issue going forward.
